Iowans Deliver Petition to Stop Republican Tariffs, Hold Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks Accountable

Indianola, IA – Today, Iowans gathered in Indianola to deliver a petition to Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ office, urging her to stop supporting Republican tariffs that are driving up prices for families across the state. The event brought together concerned community members, local activists, and everyday Iowans to make their voices heard.

During the event, participants highlighted how tariffs have directly impacted the cost of groceries, household goods, and essential items in Miller-Meeks’ district. Attendees shared personal stories and emphasized that in this season of giving, rising prices are taking money directly out of Iowa households.

Jill Kordick, from Norwalk, said that Miller-Meeks hasn’t lived up to expectations for Iowans.

“If what we’re getting is higher costs, weaker healthcare, and more instability then I’m not sure who exactly is benefiting from this fight she says she’s fighting,” Kordick said. “Iowa deserves more than campaign slogans. We deserve leadership that makes life more affordable, not less — leadership that stands up for us, not just stands beside the president.”

The event served as a strong reminder that elected officials are accountable to the people they serve. Rep. Miller-Meeks must stop rubberstamping Trump’s tariffs and start lowering costs for the people she represents.
