Iowans Demand Members of Congress Stop ‘Tarrif-yingly’ High Prices

Fairness for Iowa launched a new petition urging Representatives Zach Nunn and Mariannette Miller-Meeks to stop voting for Republican tariffs that are driving up the cost of everyday goods for Iowa families.

The petition, titled “Tell our Representatives: Stop Tarrif-yingly High Prices,” highlights how Republican-backed tariffs are inflating prices on groceries, household items, and even candy — squeezing budgets for working-class Iowans already struggling with inflation.

“Families across Iowa are feeling the pinch at the checkout line, and it’s not an accident,” Executive Director of Progress Iowa Mazie Stilwell said.“These tariffs are a direct policy choice made by GOP lawmakers who keep siding with big corporations and wealthy donors instead of everyday people. We’re calling on Representatives Nunn and Miller-Meeks to stop voting for policies that make life more expensive for working families.”

At the same time as Representatives Nunn and Miller-Meeks have been voting for tariffs, they are also making healthcare more expensive, and even shut the government down to do so. Their support for all of these strains is driving up prices, causing layoffs and hurting working families from multiple angles.
