Today, a group of Iowans held an online press conference calling for their members of Congress to bring back the Affordable Care Act health care tax credits that enabled millions of Americans to afford their healthcare.

Constituents of Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn shared their personal stories and concerns about not being able to afford skyrocketing health care premiums and asked them to vote to bring the health care tax credits back this Thursday.

Dr. Cecilia Norris, the Medical Director of a free medical clinic in Iowa that provides essential health care services to uninsured and underserved patients, spoke about how important it is that Congress takes action immediately.

“I am disappointed in our representatives, because they had plenty of time to work on a solution. If they did not like the extension of the tax credits, then they needed to have another plan in place before the tax credits expired,” Dr. Norris said. “Health care is a basic human necessity, and it is really time for our representatives in Congress to listen to what is actually happening in Iowa and vote to reinstate our tax credits for the Affordable Care Act.”
