NEW ADS: Fairness for Iowa hosts a watch party for ads that call out Congresswoman Miller-Meeks for opposing affordable health care
On Friday, Iowans gathered in Indianola for lunch and the launch of Fairness for Iowa’s new ads calling out Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks for taking away tax credits that make health care affordable for over 100,000 Iowans. In 2025, Miller-Meeks voted to give billionaires permanent, massive tax breaks, but called credits that lower premiums ‘unreasonable’. She then argued that patients should pay more to have “skin in the game” and insisted that Americans shouldn’t “overutilize” health care.
The ads feature Jill Kordick from Norwalk, talking about how her health care premiums are increasing due to the health care tax credits being allowed to expire. She has been frustrated by Miller-Meeks’ refusal to hear from constituents and her continued support of tax breaks for billionaires.
“Miller-Meeks says she doesn’t expect individuals to forgo care when they can’t afford it,” Kordick said. “That flawed perspective is built upon failing to have routine public meetings with her constituents to hear their stories and concerns. For the record, Representative, I am making choices to forgo health care due to the financial burden.”
These ads are the first in what will be Fairness for Iowa’s seven-figure radio and digital ad campaign in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.
