Nunn and Miller-Meeks vote again for the largest cuts ever made to Medicaid

Today, Representatives Zach Nunn and Mariannette Miller-Meeks voted yes to pass the final version of the GOP Tax Scam. This bill cuts healthcare and food for hundreds of thousands of Iowans—including children, seniors and veterans—to pay for billionaire and corporate tax breaks. 

Nunn and Miller-Meeks’ votes for the Republican Tax Scam include disastrous cuts to Medicaid and major cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—ripping healthcare and groceries from working families in order to fund new tax breaks for billionaires and large corporations. 

“With this budget passing, thousands of Iowa families are now at risk of losing the Medicaid coverage and SNAP benefits they rely on to survive,” Matt Chapman, a Medicaid advocate from Waukee, said. “Stripping healthcare and food assistance from hardworking Iowans is devastating — especially in rural communities where hospitals depend on Medicaid to keep their doors open. This isn’t just bad policy, it’s a direct attack on the people our elected officials, including Reps. Nunn and Miller-Meeks, are supposed to represent.”
