Reps. Nunn and Miller-Meeks Fail to Reverse Healthcare Cuts

This morning, both Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn voted in support of the Republican spending bill that fails to reverse devastating cuts to healthcare.

As the expiration date of December 31 looms closer, the average out-of-pocket premium for patients enrolled in ACA marketplace plans is set to skyrocket by 75%, a harsh reality for Iowans relying on these subsidies to afford healthcare. With the open enrollment window opening on November 1, patients face an unacceptable risk of being priced out of necessary health coverage. This is a direct consequence of Republicans’ policy and a testament to their continued assault on healthcare in this country.

“Nunn and Miller-Meeks still have the opportunity to reverse these harmful cuts,” Mazie Stilwell, executive director of Progress Iowa said. “It is imperative that lawmakers prioritize the needs of their constituents over partisan politics. Nunn and Miller-Meeks must be held accountable for their role in perpetuating this healthcare crisis.”
