Iowans discuss new ads that call out Miller-Meeks for supporting tariffs and Medicaid cuts
Community members share the impacts of their Congresswoman’s votes
Fairness for Iowa hosted a roundtable with community members in Muscatine discussing their new ads calling out Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks for voting for massive cuts to Medicaid and supporting tariffs that raise costs for Iowans.
The ads feature Evan, who is living in Muscatine on a fixed income while providing full-time care for his grandmother with Alzheimer’s, talking about how Miller-Meeks’ votes have impacted him and his family.
“We were already struggling to make ends meet on a fixed income,” Evan said. “Now, prices keep going up and the health care we rely on is at risk. I don’t understand why Congresswoman Miller-Meeks is supporting tariffs and voting for these cuts that could hurt families like mine.”
At the event, members of the community gathered to watch the ads and discuss how Miller-Meeks voted for the largest cuts in history to Medicaid last year, leaving thousands of Iowans worried about their health care options and rural hospitals at risk of closing, to make permanent massive tax breaks for billionaires. Additionally, she has consistently voted in support of tariffs that are raising prices for Iowa families.
