NEW ADS: Iowan calls out Miller-Meeks for supporting tariffs and Medicaid cuts

Caregiver on fixed income struggling with rising costs and health care cuts

Fairness for Iowa launched new digital ads in their ongoing ad campaign calling out Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks for voting for massive cuts to Medicaid and supporting tariffs that raise costs for Iowans.

The ads feature Evan, who is living in Muscatine on a fixed income while providing full-time care for his grandmother with Alzheimer’s, talking about how Miller-Meeks’ votes have impacted him and his family.

“We were already struggling to make ends meet on a fixed income,” Evan said. “Now, prices keep going up and the health care we rely on is at risk. I don’t understand why Congresswoman Miller-Meeks is supporting tariffs and voting for these cuts that could hurt families like mine.”

Miller-Meeks voted for the largest cuts in history to Medicaid last year, leaving thousands of Iowans worried about their health care options and rural hospitals at risk of closing, to make permanent massive tax breaks for billionaires. Additionally, she has consistently voted in support of tariffs that are raising prices for Iowa families.

The American dream doesn’t really exist anymore. I’m a full-time caregiver for my grandmother with Alzheimer’s. It’s the only way for us both to make ends meet. It’s hard enough to afford bills on a fixed income. Costs just keep going up.

I don’t understand Congresswoman Miller-Meeks supporting tariffs that raise our costs even more

And cutting Medicaid, which we rely on

It feels like we’re getting squeezed from every direction
